To Black Kite,

Once again I would like to express thanks to all of you. Each and everyone have played a very important role throughout Scamp. The forming stage was enjoyable. With all the laughter, sweat, jokes and suan-ings that make us so united today. Right now let storm our spirits high and continue to share and help each other to make our university journey a fruitful and meaningful one. 

I initiated to join Scamp together with all my fellow rag dancers. Was a little upset initially because my previous OG was not willing to sign up together as seniors. Plus we were the best OG last year!! Do HOPE that you all would not drift apart one year later. At first I thought that Scamp was sort of like a gathering and feared that I would spent most of my time with the rag dancers. Until I met all of you - we shared, we contributed, we endured and we made it. I am proud to undergo this journey with all of you.

I am glad that I did my job well as a OGL. All my life, I had been attending camps after camps. This holiday, I did Sea Sports camp, KR camp, Tampines Sec Camp, Si Ling Sec Camp, Jurong West Sec Camp, Swiss Cottage Sec Camp and also Science Pre-Camp. Getting tired of camps, I was afraid, because this time round the camp mates are going to be my peers. Fortunately all went on well, and instead Scamp was the BEST CAMP I have been to in my entire life!! I am not lying.

Adeline: You have the sweetest voice among all of us. Haha, ask the seniors, there is a story behind it. =) Quiet but a motivated person, you have added an element of gentleness into Black Kite. 

XingQi: Nice drawing. =) Can sell some drawings during your school holidays next time. Surprised that you were so terrified of the entire Fright Night. Still remember the moment when the little girl on top of the stairs grabbing at you? You screamed and ducked onto the ground. Haha, was quite funny.

Wei Tian: You were great!! A sweet personality, I like your smiles. 

Xin Wei: Best freshman, whaha, you got the charm. You are a great “Mover” and I can see a natural leader in you. I believe that you can achieve many things in life. Continue to work towards your goals and shine.

Kit Yeng: A very difficult name to remember. Every time I see you, I will be thinking of fun and lame jokes. 

Ruff: Opps, it is Ruth. Haha, initially I did not know how to spell your name and I always thought it was spelled as Ruff. Haha, anyway, this girl can be quite violent  during games, a fighting warrior for Black Kite!! 

Gary: You all have to thank Gary, because it was from the ice-cream bet on the second day during the Pirates of the Curry Bean, that somehow ended up with Ben & Jerrys deal during the amazing race. Thank you for leading the OG during pirates, and always there when we need you. Have confidence and passion for Science club. 

Jeolyn: See I never forget you. Yeah I remembered your name!! Not bad…You can sing very well.

Chee Ho: Yoz the DJ man. The secret to endless energy is to have passion and craze over what you are doing. 

Peng: A good motivator with a lot of energy. Rarely seeing you feeling very tired, actually come to think about it, you also like Lina. But you complain a little lesser, haha. 

Zoe: Act cute girl, I like your that t-shirt. She can be very fierce at times but actually very nice at heart. A cheerful personality, she lights up the mood of Black Kite. Pls dun stand beside me!! haha

Mavis: whaha!! Almost forget about you, opps!! The very brave girl who is not afraid of horror movies and also looking very strong during the Fright Night. You roxs.

Thank you for the cards. It was really very touching and moving to discover that my effort was employed into good use and that we all enjoyed ourselves. Did not know what to say just now at B&Js, but I feel that pleased that we are still so united and bonded as an OG even after SCAMP. Let remain as good friends. =) 

I have been through journey after journey, yet only a few could be everlasting. Hope that Scamp would only be a stepping-stone for all of us, and not a memory. Lets continue to have more gatherings to keep our spirits high and onwards. School term is approaching, sadly, but it is time to pick up our books to study. Always remember that our primary role in coming into NUS is to study. Just a piece of advice as a senior, join COMs that you think you would enjoy and have time to commit. If not you will end up suffering through the whole academic year.  

:: This is a story about a Boy :: 

A young boy was walking along a road one day when he spotted a copper penny shining on the dust. He picked it up and clutched it with excitment. A penny was his , and it cost him nothing! From that day on, whenever he walked, he kept his head down, his eyes closely surveying the ground for more pennies- perhaps a even greater treasure... During his lifetime , he found more money. In fact he collected 302 pennies ;24 nickels ; 41 dimes ; 8 quarters, 3 half dollars pieces and one worn-out paper dollar.... a total of $12.82. He kept his treasure safe, protecting it as a "free legacy" of wealth. He was delighted in the fact that his money cost him nothing. Or had it? In the course of scouting on his treasure, he had missed seeing the full beauty of 35127 sunsets, the splendor of 327 rainbows, the beauty of white clouds floating overhead in crystal blue skies, birds soaring , squirrels hopping from branch to branch in the trees above the paths on which he walked, the brilliance of the autumn leaves fluthering against a backdrop of autumn sunshine. What he acquired -- $12.82-- certainly wasn't equal to what he had missed. 

Of course unlike the little boy , we are not so preoccupied with gains that are pretty a such. We go for bigger things- ambitions, aspiration, dreams that are presue . But have we ever paused in the tedium of life , have we ever taken rest to enjoy living instead of trying to get a living, of trying to struggle through each and every day. When was the last time you admired the beauty of the night sky, the bright shimmer of the shining stars? When was the last time you were caressed by the gentle winds, strolling in the unison with the rustling leaves? when was the last time you disappears into the cover of white clouds? Or trail the flight of an aeroplane when you happen to catch one from the corner of your eye. It's a plentiful in a country like Singapore, if you would only take time to appreciate.
